I have worked in sales and marketing for the publishing and media industry since 2016.
During early 2020, when businesses began suffering from the impact of the pandemic, I noticed there was little empathy for smaller businesses that were massively impacted due to being a non-essential business, however this did not stop others in my industry pushing hard on sales and marketing campaigns despite the ongoing crisis, witnessing this, my own principles felt an uncomfortable push.
As someone who had always believed in the value of relationships and the personal touch in business, watching other people in my industry force sales and campaigns onto clients already in distress.
This seemed unfair, especially for small businesses that had invested their hard earned money and for some even their savings to launch or maintain their presence in the required market, they lacked the support of a well known name or a substantial marketing budget to fall back on.
It was then that I started thinking maybe I could offer something more aligned with my values.
I sought the advice of an editor I had worked with many times over the years who also had experience in content creation. We had many late-night discussions about how to support businesses struggling to stay afloat. It was clear that a gentler, more understanding approach to marketing was needed, we reached out to several individuals who had expressed interest in marketing their business/brand but had not proceeded further. The common response we received was quite straightforward. It seemed that they found so many options overwhelming not knowing which one to take if any, with no proper guidance on maximizing the benefits of affordable or even free advertising.
So with all of the knowledge I gained, I decided to offer personalized marketing services, focusing on the unique needs of each client.
I Ditched long contracts and high-pressure sales techniques for a more compassionate approach.
Looking back, this decision aligned perfectly with my personality. It's in the daily interactions with local business owners, and their stories and journeys they share, and in the successes we achieve together, that I find my work fulfilling.
To someone who may be at the start of their journey and looking into different ways to grow, marketing for me is really about understanding and helping people, rather than just making transactions.
Its about building trust and understanding that no two businesses although may be similar are never the same.
My aim is to support you in making the most of the resources at your disposal, both those you already have and those that are easily obtainable, with minimal fuss, at a guaranteed affordable cost.
